Inspiration: Bad-ass Band Tees Esembles

Source: tumblr

I'm in desperate need of band tees in my life. Worn-out, grunged-out vintage authentic band tees. Those sold here can't satisfy my cravings so i might just buy the expensive ones from HMV if i cant find any at Salvation Army.

Oh & the above band-tee esembles are DOPE. i especially love the one matched with floral jeans, the ones re-constructed into mesh dresses, & the unexpected one with a polka-dotted pencil skirt.
Simply genius.

Fantasy vs. Reality

{H&M lace thingy & daisy headband, $15 floral shorts from local store, oversized denim shirt/jacket from Ebay, Topshop crochet fringe sling & john lennon sunnies & turquoise net sox, thrift market ol' bootz.}

Ah, my first post with my cropped mane.. Sigh dont wanna talk about that. So, it was a bright sunny yet breezy day on 26.04.12 when my girls & i went for a picnic at the Marina Barrage. & yea, i was little overdressed for a picnic in singapore but haha, dont give a shizzle. Was very much inspired by what the music festival-goers wore at the recent Coachella & so i used this opportunity where there's all that grass & skies to realise my fantasy of dressing up like i was going to headbang & jump about at a music festival hahahah. Well but yea, in reality it was just eating & making making a mess out of our home-cooked foods.

Speaking of reality, i am finally gunna be part of the working class again. Interviewed for Cotton On & got the job on the spot so i'll be earning mah moolah$ in no time & first thing imma do with my first pay is get waxed & thrift clothes at Salvation Army. Oh yeah. \m/

I'm Everything You Can't Control

Taken on 03.03.12. {cosmic chiffon outer from City Plaza, Topshop sleeveless button shirt, Bugis street denim hw shorts, gold chain-link bib necklace from flea market ($5 only!), Topshop tote bag (xmas gift from girlfrs), Topshop black lace socks.}

My lovely ex-colleague-cum-photograper.

I contemplated for a pretteh long time before I bought this outerwear. Why? Cuz the cosmic-print was everywhere online & in stores at town I felt it was too over-hyped though i loved how the print looked, i didnt wanna bump into someone else on the streets wearing the exact same print. But i finally gave in to my hidden desire to own a galaxy-printed item when i once again encountered this outerwear for the hundredth time but this time, at City Plaza, for just $25 bucks compared to $30-$40 online or in town. I love that it's sheer & thin so i can layer however i like without having to sweat like a dog, & how it's fashioned like a hybrid of a kimono & blazer so it looks soo good with a collared sleeveless shirt inside. I look lika preppy art student on acid minus the geeky hipster specs hehe. The only fault i find in this piece is the length of the back which is like neither short nor long so it does nothing flattering for my back-view except for the visually-appealing print. & thank god i haven't run into anyone else wearing this when i did.

Looking at this set of photos does make me miss the long mane & center-parting. I haven't posted a pic here of my cropped hair have i? Well i got bored & frustrated with the endless tangles & knots in my long hair & finally chopped them to my shoulders last month. A few days later i couldn't stand how much more mature i looked with the short hair so i grabbed a pair of scissors & chopped my fringe to bangs in the name of youth. Do i regret it? Hmm. I don't even like the word 'regret'.

The title of this post is a line from one of Evanescence latest song btw. Yes i love Amy Lee & the band since i was 11 & i still do. Their music accompanied me through my darkest days as a pre-teen & reason why i still listen to them is probably due to the shit mainstream music has become. Music like Evanescence's serves as a detox from the generic pop bull for me. &Amy's resonating vocals & emotional lyrical content never fail to tug at the hardest strings in my heart.

Until my next post, XX.

Lightning High, Thunder-Thighs.

taken on 25.02.12. {Topshop bralet, thrifted Wanko blazer from Salvation Army, DIY high-waist denim shorts, M)phosis studded & spiked headband, Cotton On knt socks, Underground-inspired velvet creepers from *Scape flea market.}

This was back in feb when i still had a job and when my colleague & i would have late dinner after work then snap pictures of each other pretending to be models & photographers haha. Guess that's the only thing i'd miss about that job. (Please don't mind my thunder-thighs. & the lame title haha. )

The over-sized pastel pink blazer i have on is 2nd-hand from the Salvation Army family thrift store at Bt Timah and soooo.. i got it for just 3 bucks! THREE DOLLARS. Fully-lined & of good quality material. When i found it i was like 'SCOREEE' hehh plus pastel colors were just only entering the spring season's trend at that time! It's sized L or XL but i like that it's over-sized on me. Looks less formal & would look casual chic with just a slouchy basic tee inside or a rly cool worn-in band tee. But yea, i'll admit, i dont wear it thaaat often cuz of Singapore's sucky weather. :/ Ooh but those denim shorts, i wear 'em almost every other day. They were once formerly, my mom's denim jeans from at least a decade ago haha so i guess y'cld consider that vintage? So anyway, i found 'em in a bag of clothes my mom wanted to throw out, and cut 'em this short. I can never find decent high-waisted shorts that fit me nicely cuz im small in the waist, & rlllly big in the hips & thighs,  unfortunately, so discovering these at home was awesome. They fit me probably cuz my mom had the same problem even 10 years ago haha.

Anyone here loves thrifting too? Would loveee to know where else has thrift stores in Singapore.
